What's New ?

MEDICAID

Medicaid has transferred non-emergency transportation to HMOs, thereby fragmenting coordination.  FACTS wrote to Secretary Alan Levine and to every Florida legislator expressing our concerns.  We  urged all CTCs and planners to do the same.  We also prepared letters to the editor which appeared in newspapers throughout the state.

All to no avail.  As a last resort, FACTS  asked John Buchanan, a Tallahassee lawyer, to file a lawsuit against AHCA for violating Chapter 427 and causing damage to transit properties and riders.  Mr. Buchanan and Mr Antaramian spent several months seeking  information from AHCA .  The materials they received did not appear to justify the decision to use HMOs.

After polling the Executive Committee and the membership on how to proceed, FACTS  asked our lawyers to file a complaint for Declaratory Relief directed at Christa Calamas in her official capacity as Secretary of the Florida Agency for Health Care Administration.  A copy of that complaint has been sent to all FACTS' members.  We will keep you advised as we proceed..
